I’ve mentioned before that I seem to always have these turkey tenderloins on hand (see my Turkey Noodle Soup recipe here). Well Sunday I so did not feel like going grocery shopping. So I inventoried what I had on hand, and what do ya know, I had a turkey tenderloin in the freezer.
I threw together this quick and easy meal. It was SO good. It’s amazing how much flavor a little can of Coke can add.
Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments below.
- 1 30 oz. pre-seasoned package of turkey tenderloins (I used Honeysuckle White brand’s Rotisserie flavor)
- 1 can of Coca-Cola
- 18 oz. bottle Original BBQ sauce (I used Kroger brand)
- sandwich buns
- bread and butter pickles
- cole slaw
Remove tenderloins from package and add to crock pot (If frozen, defrost in a bowl of cold water first). Pour the can of Coke over the turkey. You can cook it set at low for 8 hours, or high for 4 hours. For more tender, flavorful meat, slow cook it for 8 hours.
Drain any liquid from the crock pot. Shred turkey with a fork (it should fall apart easily). Mix in BBQ sauce. Leave in crock pot set to warm.
Serve on a toasted bun (we used brioche) and top with bread and butter pickles and cole slaw, if desired.
