We’re packing up for a family road trip, and my kitchen is filled with homemade goodies galore. Sometimes I wonder if it would just be easier to buy a pack of Chips Ahoy and call it a day. But then I remind myself why I do this: I’m creating memories and carrying on traditions. Homemade snacks are what childhood memories are made of, right? So as the cookies are in the oven, and the Rice Krispy Treats (or Rice Creepy Treats, as Jackson calls them) are cooling on the counter, I whipped up this simple Chex Mix that I thought I’d share just in time for the holiday weekend.
This patriotic Chex mix is perfect for road trips, fireworks, and just because. And like all of the treats I share, it’s safe for kids with peanut and tree nut allergies.
- 4 cups rice Chex cereal
- 2 cups pretzels
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup dried blueberries (I found these at Aldi, but they could be substituted for cranberries or raisins)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, sprinkle with cinnamon, and enjoy!
- Easy peasy and the kids will love it!
